Among Us has a real PC release — Innersloth sells it on Steam and the Epic Games Store — so before you install anything, be clear about why you would run the Android build instead. Two reasons hold up. The mobile version is free with ads, while the desktop one is paid. And your account, cosmetics and friend list live on whichever version you have been playing, so if that is the phone, the Android app keeps them. If neither applies, buy the desktop game; it is the better client.

If the free route is the one you want, LDPlayer runs the same APK your phone does, on Windows 11, 10, 8 and 7, 32-bit or 64-bit, desktop or laptop.

Installing the game

  1. Install the emulator. Run the installer and leave it to finish — the unpacking stage is the slow part, more so on a mechanical drive. Our step-by-step LDPlayer install guide covers the screens in order if you want to follow along.
  2. Sign in to Google inside the emulator. Open the Play Store app in LDPlayer and sign in with your Gmail account. This is also how your Among Us account syncs back if you have linked it. You can skip the sign-in and install from an APK file instead, but then the Play Store cannot update the game for you.
  3. Install Among Us. Search the store, or open the listing directly: Get Among Us on Google Play. Press Install and wait for it to finish.
  4. Launch it from the emulator home screen and sign in with the same account you use on the phone, so your hats and your level come with you.

The setting that actually matters: key mapping

Among Us is a mouse game once it is on a monitor — you move by clicking where you want to walk, which the emulator maps to touch without any setup. What is worth binding is the buttons you reach for in a panic. Open LDPlayer's keyboard mapping panel and put Use, Report and Kill on three keys near your left hand. Hitting a key beats dragging the cursor to a corner of the screen while a body is cooling in Electrical.

Give the emulator a little headroom too — the memory slider in LDPlayer's settings is the one to touch, not the graphics options. The game is undemanding visually; what it does not forgive is a stall when the lobby fills. Our performance guide explains which sliders change what.

Voice chat is the real limitation

This is the part most guides skip. Among Us has no built-in voice chat worth using, so lobbies run on something else — usually Discord. On a phone you juggle two apps; on a PC you can keep the game in the emulator window and Discord running natively on Windows at the same time, with a proper microphone. That combination, rather than frame rate, is the honest argument for playing on a computer.

One caveat: the free mobile version serves ads between rounds, and they play inside the emulator exactly as they do on the phone. There is no setting to remove them; the paid versions are the way out.

Where this leaves you

Run the Android app on your PC if you want Among Us free, or you want to keep the account and the friends list you already have on mobile. Buy the Steam or Epic build if you want the cleaner client with no ads and native keyboard support. Both play on the same servers in cross-platform lobbies, so your group does not have to choose together.
