You can run Notion on PC using the free LDPlayer Android emulator.

Download LDPlayer Free

1. Grab LDPlayer and get it ready

  1. Download the installer. The button above pulls the latest 2026 build, which is only 115 MB. Run the .exe and follow the on‑screen prompts.
  2. Launch LDPlayer. After the first launch you’ll see the familiar Android home screen. If the window feels a little choppy, check the performance guide for a quick tweak.
  3. Sign in to Google. Open the Play Store app, tap “Sign in”, and enter your Gmail credentials. The Google account is optional — you can install Notion from its APK file instead using an alternative method.

2. Install Notion inside the emulator

  1. Search for Notion. In the Play Store’s search bar type “Notion”. The app’s icon is a simple black square with a white “N”.
  2. Tap “Install”. The button reads “Install” in blue; the download usually finishes in under 30 seconds on a 100 Mbps connection, and the app size shows as 68 MB.
  3. Open the app. Once installed, hit “Open”. Notion launches in a window that you can resize just like any other desktop program.

3. Tweak settings for a smoother experience

  1. Adjust resolution. In LDPlayer’s sidebar click the gear icon → “Settings” → “Display”. Setting the resolution to 1280×720 and the DPI to 240 gives a crisp look without taxing the GPU.
  2. Enable “Performance mode”. Under “Advanced” toggle the “High performance” switch; this cuts the frame‑lag I noticed during fast scrolling.
  3. Set up Notion preferences. Inside Notion, go to Settings → “Appearance” and pick the dark theme – I prefer it for longer writing sessions.

Compatibility note

Notion runs via LDPlayer on Windows 11, 10, 8 and 7 (both 32‑bit and 64‑bit), on desktops and laptops alike.

Troubleshooting

Two hiccups I ran into and how I fixed them:

  • Play Store says “Your device isn’t compatible”. Open LDPlayer’s Settings → “Engine”, switch the Android version from 9.0 to 10.0, then restart the emulator. The store recognises the newer API and lets you download Notion.
  • Notion freezes on the splash screen. It turned out the default “Smart free‑play” mode was limiting RAM to 2 GB. Go to Settings → “Performance” and raise the RAM allocation to 4 GB; the app loads instantly after that.

Wrapping up

Getting Notion on a Windows laptop feels surprisingly native after the initial 45‑second startup, which was a bit sluggish for me. Apart from Notion, other Android productivity apps that shine on PC are Todoist and Evernote. Happy note‑taking!
